Getting Started

In Zion National Park there are numerous options for camping. You can camp at the designated park campgrounds, or on one of the many hikes in Zion Canyon. Wherever you decide to camp you need to make sure you get reservations before hand. Call 877-444-6777 for campground reservations, up to 6 months prior to arrival.

What Gear to Take

Depending on where you camp in the park you will generally need basic camping gear, only when you camp on one of the hikes will you need other gear like proper ropes and climbing gear. Get all the family camping gear you need at REI.com. Also, never forget to bring plenty of drinking water, Summers in Zion can easily get around 95 F degrees or more on a regular day. Camp Sites in Zion*

South Campground

South campground is located 1/2 mile from the South entrance in Zion Canyon. There are 127 campsites (including three handicapped accessible) available first come, first served.

  • Tent campsites: $16.00/night

Watchman Campground

Located in Zion Canyon, Watchman is 1/4 mile from the South entrance of the park. There are 162 regular sites, 2 handicapped accessible sites and 7 group sites.

  • (95) Riverside electric campsites: $20.00/night
  • (69) Tent campsites: $16.00/night
  • (7) Group campsites: $3.00/night per person from 9 to 50 people

Lava Point Campground

Lava Point is located about a 1-hour drive from Zion Canyon on Kolob Terrace. Open June-October weather permitting.

  • (6) Primitive campsites: No Charge

*Each campsite allows a maximum of six people and two tents and two vehicles; please plan accordingly. Check out time is 11:00 a.m.
