Angels Landing Preview
Angel’s Landing is the most popular hike in Zion National Park. No permit is required. This hike can be scaled by all skill levels of hikers. You will want to get off the shuttle at “The Grotto” to hike Angels Landing. Directly across the street and over the bridge is the trail head. This hike goes about a half-mile before you begin climbing switchbacks for a half-mail. After a short flat section, another half-mile stretch of switchbacks is required called Walter’s wiggles. After this, you reach restrooms and the junction with the west rim trail. Traversing across a large hogs-back and then the ascent up the steep cliff with chains takes another hour approximately.
Before you begin this hike you must know that it can be dangerous if you are not watchful and smart. People have been killed on this hike. However, there have been many who have scaled this hike in the deep snow in seemingly treacherous conditions and been fine. Simple hiking etiquette and care should do the trick for you and your party.
