Hidden Canyon Preview
Hidden Canyon is one of the hidden gems of Zion National Park in Utah. It is a diverse hike because of the hiker’s ability to get as far as desired up the canyon. Like many canyons in Zion National Park, Hidden Canyon is a slot canyon that not many people ascend so most hikers will hike in a certain distance and turn around and come back.
The trail head to Hidden Canyon is at Weeping Rock. The hike starts with an ascent up switchbacks for 1.5 miles until you hit the actual Hidden Canyon. Once you get there, go in the canyon as far as you like. In spring, Hidden Canyon is full of ice when you get about 2 miles into the canyon. At times the ice can be as thick as 15ft.
Hidden has been ascended with as little as two tie-downs. However, for the average hiker, ascending Hidden will be difficult even with some good rope. There are also many who choose to descend Hidden from Deathtrap Mountain.
